Sunnuntai 8.6.2014     Speyer Saksa - Metz Ranska - Luxemburg - Namur Belgia 440 km

Neljän maan päivä, liikkelle hyvissä ajoin heti aamupalan jälkeen ennenkuin ilma lämpeni helteiseksi.
Saksasta Ranskaan ajoimme Scharwarzwaldin vuorialueen pohjoispuolelta kukkuloden läpi kulkevaa päätietä ja sitten luonnonsuojelu alueen läpi menevää pikkutietä. Ranskan puolella maksullista motaria lähelle Luxemburgin rajaa ja  taas pieniä teitä Luxemburgin läpi Belgiaan. Loppumatka motaria pitkin Namuriin.

Rajojen ylitykset olisi muuten varmasti jäänyt huomamatta ellei rajoilla olisi ollut pienet EU kyltit.
Belgian raja oli keskellä kaupunkia, kadun toinen puoli Luxemburgia ja toinen puoli Belgiaa, eli nopeus rajoituksista kertovaa kylttiä ei ollut.

Sunnuntai on siitä hyvä siirtymäpäivä näin alkukesästä että liikenteessä ei ole juurikaan rekkoja, Saksan lakien kieltäessä rekoilta viikonloppuajon.
Motoristeja sen sijaan oli liikkeellä sitäkin enemmän.
Hotellin aulassa tapasimme pari amerikkalaista motoristia jotka ovat tuoneet omat pyöränsä eurooppaan ja käyvät täällä kesäisin ajelemassa, tällä kertaa olivat tulossa Kreikasta.
Namurin keskustassa on laaja kävelykatualue täynnä ravintoloita ja ravintolat täynnä ihmisiä...

Speyer Germany  -  Metz France - Luxemburg - Namur Belgium 440 km

A day of four contries, we started early to get on the road before the temperature rose high.
From Germany to France we rode north of Schwarzwald hills on a main road leading though the hills and then trough a nature park on a small road. In France we rode on a pay highway close to the border of Luxemburg and again on smaal roads thorough the country to Belgium. The rest we rode on a highway to Namur.
Crossing of the borders migth have not been noticed if there has not been small EU signs and after the borders bigger signs showing the speed limits. The border of Belgium was in middle of a city so that one side of the sterr was in Luxemburg and the other side in Belgium so no big signs at all.
Sunday is a good day fro riding as there was hardly any trucks on the roads as German laws deny trucks driwing during weekends.

Lauantai 7.6.2014   Sinsheim - Speyer   40 km   English translation after Finnish text

Hieno aamu, ajoimme heti yhdeksäksi tekniikan museolle.

Todella valtava paikka, museossa on toki paljon autoja mutta myös lentokoneita ja kaikenlaisia teknisiä vempaimia junista ja höyryjyristä alkaen päätyen Concordeen. Toiselle maailmansodalle on omistettu kokonainen halli ja kalustoa on niin Saksalaista, Amerikkalaista kuin myös Venäläistäkin.

Museossa voisi viettää hyvin koko päivän aamusta iltaan ehtimättä silti tutustua kaikkeen tarjontaan, osa laitteista oli mekanisoitu liikkuvine osineen ja äänineen.

Museon pihalla oli aamulla parkissa kymmeniä Britti urheiluautoja Saksalaisen klubin veteraaniajotapahtumassa, seurasimme parin osallistujan pärjäämistä sokkoajotehtävässä

jossa kuljettajan pititi peruutella autoa side silmillään apukuskin ohjesituksen mukaan.
Voisi olla ison perheriidan ainekset monessakin perheessä.
No nämä näkyivät pärjäävän.

Museo kierroksella tuli kevältyä kilometri tolkulla ja kiivettyä useita portaita sillä olihan Concorde ja sen Venäläinen vasyine nähtävä sisältäkin kun kerran oli mahdollista.
Hieman oli tekniikassa eroa, mutta molemmat pysyivät enimmäkseen ilmassa aikanaan.
TU oli aikalailla tilavampi sisätiloiltaan.

Museokierroksen aikana lämpätila oli noussut +32 asteeseen joten pieni ajomatka oli tarpeeseen vaan kovin kauas ei olis yksinkertaisesti voinut ajaa goret päällä. Ajoimme toisen vastaavan museon kaupunkiin Speyeriin mutta museoon ei enää tehnyt mieli.
Majapaikka löytyi aivan kaupungin keskustasta kävelykadun varrelta.

Kävelykatu ja keskusta olivat turistien suosiossa joten vapaan pöydän löytäminen jäätelökahvilasta vei hetken aikaa.
Paikallisen panimon piharavintolassa maistelimme ohrapirtelöt suunnattoman possunleikkeen kera. Oli aika tukeva olo nukkumaan mennessä.

Saturday 7.6.2014    Sinsheim - Speyer 40 km

Fine morning, we drove in good time before opening hour to the technical museum.
It's really a huge place mainly with cars but also aeroplanes and all kinds of technical stuff starting from trains and locomotives ending to Concorde.
A part of the museum is dedicated to World Wars having materials from Germany, Usa and Russia.
You could send the whole day in the museum and yet not be able to see everything closely, some of the units were having moving part with sound.
At the yard there wer tens of British sport cars parked as a German club was having their veteran car meeting. We followed a couple of cars how they managed in a special stage where the driver had to reverse the car eyes covered with bandage and the co driver was giving instructions. That could easily be start for a huge family dispute.
Anyway these couples seem to manage the task well.
Walking around the museum took kilometres and ofcourse we had to klimb severel steps to be able to visit inside Concorde and it's Russian competitor as it was possible.
There was some difference in the technology used but mainly these planes were flying during their era.
During the time in museum the temperature has risen up to +32 degrees, so a small ride was needed to cool down but having Goretex suits it was impossible to drive a long way.
We rode to the city of Speyer having a similar museum, but visiting there was not anymore a good idea.
We found a hotel in the middle of the city just close to the walking zone.
The centre of city was really popular among tourists so finding a free table in an ice cream cafe took a while.
We had as dinner a huge portion of schitsel with local beer in the yard restaurant of a local brewery. I felt so full even when going to sleep...

Perjantai 6.6.2014     Weisman - Stuttgart - Sinsheim   360 km English translation after Finnish text

Hieno aamu, morjestimme vielä Saksalaisia motoristeja ennen liikkeelle lähtöä. Tienpäälle 8:00 ensin kapeata mutkatietä pitkin , sitten motaria Stuttgartiin jossa suuntasimme Porschen museoon.

Vielä hienompi paikka kuin eilinen, tosin minun henkilökohtaiset sympatiat on aina olleet Porschen suuntaan, vaan ne ovat haaveita ne.

Goretexit alkoi olla jo aika lämpimät museokierroksen jälkeen mittarin näyttäessä parhaimmillaan + 31 astetta. Päätimme kuitenkin jatkaa matkaa Sinsheimiin jossa on tarkoitus tutustua huomenna tekniikan museoon ja samalla päättää reissumme museokierrokset.
Perjantai iltapäivä ja motari alkoi olla aika tukossa, no liikettä oli kuitenkin koko ajan niin ettei kannattanut ruvata splittaamaan. Sinsheimia ennen vastaantulijat näkyivät seisovat paikallaan parin kilometrin matkalla, ei käy kateeksi.
Tekniikan museon vieressä ollut hotelli oli turhan kallis meidän budjetillemme, joten navi töihin ja etsimään majoitusta. Sellainen löytyikin muutaman kilometrin päästä ja tässä sitä nyt istutaan terassilla suihkunraikkaana kylmä olut lasi käden ulottuvilla. Kohta lähdetään vähän kävelemään ja syömään.

Friday 6.6.2014      Wiesman - Stuttgart - Sinsheim   360 km

Really nice morning, we said hello to German bikers before starting our bikes at 8:00. First really nice narrow and windy road, then autobahn to Stuttgard where we rode to Porsche museum.
Even more great place than the one in yestrday, well I've always been a Porche fan but that's only a dream...
After visiting the museum Goretex suits started to be too much as the temperature rose up to 32 degrees. anyway we decided to continue to Sinsheim as we are planning to visit tomorrow the technical museum of Sinsheim as the finishing of museum tour.
Friday afternoon and the autobahn started to be full, luckily the tarffic was anyway moving on fast enough that there was no need for splitting. Before Sinsheim on the other directions the driwers were standing still about two kilometres, no way to envy.
The hotell close to technical museum was too expensive for us budget, so using the navigator we found suitable hotel only a couple kilometers away so here we are on the terracce after frefreshing shower having a cold beer. Soon we'll have walk to find a plece to have supper.

Torstai 5.6.2014   Ceska Lipa Tsekki - Zwickau - Weisman Saksa 450 km

Aurinkoinen aamu, liikkeelle 8:00 pienempiä teitä kohti motaria.

Saksan puolella jatkoimme painamista motaria pitkin ja samalla tuli todettua että alumiinilaukkujen kanssa voi pitää 180 km/h matkavauhtia tarvittaessa, toki vähemmälläkin ehtii.

Samaa tietä ajoimme kaksi vuotta sitten Tsekistä Saksaan vesisateessa, nyt oli täysin toinen tunnelma auringon paistaessa. Tunneleissakaan ei mennyt linssit huuruun...
Kohteenamme oli Zwicka, jolla on pitkä historia autojen valmistuksessa ja kohteenamme oli August Horchin museo, todella hieno paikka.

Horcheja, Audeja, Wanderer, DKW, Sashenring, Trabantit ja nykyään Volkkarit.

  Museo kierroksen jälkeen päätimme jatkaa vielä pari tuntia ajoa ja sattuman kaupalla osuimme kapean mutkatien varrella olevaan Weismanin kaupunkiin jonne päätimme jäädä yöksi.

Raatihuonetta vastapäätä on Alte Post niminen hotelli ravintola johon majoittauduimme.
Samaan hotelliin tuli kolme saksalaista motoristi paluumatkalta Italiasta kotiin Hannoveriin.
Istuimme heidän kanssaan hetken iltaa vaihtaen mielipiteitä moottoripyöräilystä.

Thursday 5.6.2014   Ceska Lipa Czech Reubuplic - Zwickau - Weisman Germany 450 km
Sunny morning, we started at 8:00 on small road towards the highway.
We rode the same way two yars ago from Czech Republic to Germany and it was raining all the way, now the felling was totally different as sun was shining. Even in the tunnels there was no problem of lenses to get froggy...
In Germany we continued on autobahn and tested that it's possible to maintain touring speed of 180 km/h with the aluminium boxes even though less is enough.
Our target was the city of Zwickau that has a long history of manufacturing cars and there the museum of August Horch. A really fine place.
Horch, Audi, Wanderer, DKW, Sashenring, Trabant and today Volkswagen.
After museum tour we decided to continue for a couple of hours and by change hit the city of Weisman along a narrow and windy road where we decided to stay over nigth.
Toward the Radhouse there is a hotell named Alte Post and there we met three German bikers on the way back home to Hannover from Italy.
We spent some time with them changing opinions about motorbiking.

Aamulla sää pilvinen mutta kuiva, aamupala hotellilla ja reittisuunnitelman teko Google Mapsia ja navia käyttäen.
Liikkeelle 9:00 ensin Swidnicaan jossa hetken ihmettelimme kadulta käsin kaupungin kirkkoa

ja sitten jatkoimme matkaa osin aika pientäkin tietä pitkin

Puolan talviurheilu keskuksen Jelenia Goran kautta Tsekin Harrachoviin. Lounastimme lasitehtaan viereen rakennetussa ravintolassa tosi tukevat ja maittavat bratwurstit hapankaalin kera.

Mutkatie vuoriston yli oli varsin hyvässä kunnossa vaikkakin liikennettä oli runsaasti.
Matka jatkui kohti Mlada Boleslaviin jossa kävimme tutustumassa Skodan museoon.

Lämpötila alkoi lähennellä jo hellelukemia.

Tien varressa huomasimme linnan mäen päällä, mutta kun viimeset 300 metriä olisi pitänyt kiivetä jalkaisin mäkeä ylös niin jäin käymättä...
Museo kierroksen jälkeen päätimme vielä ajaa seuraavaan kaupunkiin Ceska Lipaan ja majoittauduimme keskustan hotelliin.
Jotenkin tuntuu siltä että kelloa olisi käännetty joku vuosi taaksepäin...
No joka tapauksessa saimme syötyä ihan kohtuullisesti ja hotellihuonekin on asiallinen.
Nettiyhteys ei huoneessa tosin toimi joten baarin terassilla tätä tässä nyt naputtelen.

Wednesday 4.6.2014     Wrocklaw Poland - Mlada Boleslaw - Ceska Lipa Chech Republic
265 km
Tho morning was cloudy but dry, after the breakfast in hotell we spent some time to plan days ride using Google Maps and navigator.
Strating at 9:00 first to Swidnica where we spent some time looking at the city church and then continued towards the winter sports centre of Poland Jelenia Gora. Then to Chech to Harrachov where we had lunch in a restaurant close to a glass factory. We ate local  bratwusts together with sauerkraut, tasty and a heavy dose.
The road crossing the mountains was in good condition and really nice even though it was quite crowded.
Our ride continued to Mlada Boleslaw where we visited the museum of Skoda.
The temperature was already about 25 degrees. On the road we saw a castle on top of a hill but as the last 300m should have been climbed by foots, we skipped it.
We decided to continue to next city of Ceska Lipa and found a hotell in the city centre.
Somehow I got the feeling that someone has tuned the time some yares backwards...
Anyway we found reasonable food in a restaurant and the hotell room was ok.
Only the Wifi did not work in the room so now I'm writing this at the terrace of the hotel bar.

Tiistai 3.6.2014  Elk - Wrocklaw  Puola  665 km  English translation after Finnish text
Tosi pitkä päivä, ei niinkään kilometreissä vaan ajassa...
Yöllä satoi reippaasti vettä, aamulla sade oli tauonnut mutta suhteellinen kosteus oli aika korkea kun lähdimme liikkeelle klo 8:00.
Reittimme kulki tietä mukavan mutkaista ja hyväkuntoista 58 tietä pitkin länteen ruuhkaiselle ja huonokuntoiselle 7 tielle. Tarkoituksena oli kiertää Varsova ja välttää moottoriteitä.
Ensimmäisessä onnistuimme mutta jälkimmäisessä emme...
Liikenteen määrä ja teiden kunto piti keskinopeuden niin alhaisena että päätimme ajaa loppumatkan moottoritietä pitkin navin osoittaman mukaan vaan eipä onnistunut tälläkään kertaa. Aivan sama tilanne kuin toissa vuonnakin, navin mukaan moottoritie oli valmis mutta todellisuudessa ei...
Jouduimme vanhalle tielle joka kulki kylästä kylään ja täynnä rekkoja joiden ohittaminen ei ollut niin helppoa kuin luulisi sillä vastaantulijoitakin riitti. Lopulta pääsimme viimeiselle sadalle kilometrille motarille jota sitten painettiin menemään sateen yltyessä reipasta vauhtia.
Perillä Wrocklavissa ajoimme navin osoittamaan kaupungin keskipisteeseen ja aloimme etsiä hotellia. Koska kaupungin keskusta oli tietöitä täynnä ja vettä satoi niin eipä sekään ollut niin helppoa kuin yleensä. Lopulta tunnin päästä päädyimme hotelli Europeumiin joka oli 50m:n päässä siitä kohtaa mistä aloitimme etsimisen...
Tämmöistä tämä reissaaminen välillä on, päivälle kertyi mittaa melkein 12 tuntia eikä kuviakaan tullut juuri otettua.
No nyt kylmä kalja maistuu pihvin kera vallan hyvältä!

Tuesday 3.6.2014   Elk - Wrocklaw 665 km
A really long day, not so many kilometres but hours...
During the nigth it was raining a lot, the rain has stopped at the morning but the humidity was yet quite high when we started at 8:00.
Our route started by the road number 58 that was in good condition but the next one, numer 7 was growded and not so good condition. Our item was to ride around Warsaw and to avoid the highways. The first one we succeded but not the second one...
As the intensity of the traffic and the condition of the roads kept our avearage speed really low we decided to ride the rest on a highway but it was not succesfull at this time.
The situation was similar as last time, the navigator showed the road but actually it was not yet finished...
So we had to take the old road that took us to ewery small village and was full of trucks, Passing them was not so easy if you can imaqine as the road was full in both directions. Finally we got back to the highway that we rode then with good speed and the rain started again.
In Wroclaw we rode to the centre of the city and started to look about a hotel. As the center of the city was full of roads under construction and it was raining, it was not so easy find one.
Finally after driwing around about one hour we ended to Hotel Europeum that was located about 50 metres from the point where we started....
So this is what riding is sometimes, the day was almost 12 hours on the road and not so many photos.
So finally a cold beer with a good beef feals really good!

Maanantai 2.6.2014   Riika Latvia - Elk Puola 450km
Aamu valkeni sateisena mutta ennen liikkeelle lähtöä sade lakkasi.

Aamupalan jälkeen suunnistimme Riian automuseoon joka on toistaiseksi evakossa kaupungin laidalla sijaitsevassa hallissa. Vaikka puitteet eivät olekaan erinomaiset niin näyteillä on hienosti entisöityjä autoja niin lännestä kuin idästäkin. On vain ihmeteltävä kuinka paljon ennen sotia valmistettuja autoja on onnistuttu säilyttämään Neuvostovuosien ajan. Kannattaa ehdottomasti tutustua.

Museon jälkeen suuntasimme etelään kohti Liettuaa ja Puolaa pilvisessä säässä.
Via Baltikalla oli runsaasti rekkaliikennettä kuten aina ennenkin. Useita HD kuskeja tuli vastaan matkalla kokoontumiseen Tallinnassa.
Puolan puolella Suwalkiin saakka liikenne oli hieman tukkoista ennekuin pääsimme kääntymään Elkin tielle. Puolalaiset eivät juurikaan kunniota liikennesääntöjä ohittaen aina kun on mahdollista ja välillä vaikka ei olisikaan mahdollista. Teitä kunnostetaan ahkerasti ja viime kerrasta liikennejärjestelyt olivat muuttuneet kummasti.
Majoittauduimme hotelli Horekaan ja tällä kertaa saimme huoneen aivan hotellin toisesta päästä 96 porrasaskelman ja pitkien käytävien takaa...
Pieni kävely kaupungilla ja iltapala viereisessä ravintolassa ennen nukkumaan menoa sillä huomenna on pitkä päivä  sekä tunneissa että kilometreissä.

Monday 2.6.2014   Riga Latvia - Elk Poland  450 km
Rainy morning, luckily the rain stopped before we started.
After breakfast we rode to the car museum of Riga that is for time being evacuated to a warehose at the suburb of Riga. Even the place is not perefect for exhibition they have a lot fine from East and West. It´s a wonder how they have managed to save them during the Soviet era. worth while to visit.
After the museum we headed to south to Litrhuania and to Poland in a cloudy weather.
Via Baltica was full of trucks as always, a lot of HD bikers riding to north as they will have a gathering in Tallinn. 
In Poland the road was blocked until Suwalki where we turned to Elk. The Polish do not mind too much about the traffic rules passing by always when posiblle and many time where its not possible. A lot of road construction works on going so the road was a bit different than in last time.
In Elk we booked to Hotel Horeka and got a room at the far end of the hotel after 96 steps and long corridors...
A short walk arond in the city and a supper in a reastaurant close to the hotel before getting to sleep as the tomorrow will be a long day, both by hours and kilometres.
